Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 1% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 80.9/100, a mean average of 79.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 81.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.8.

My favorite hip hop album. The cohesion and flow in production from track to track, the concept, SUFJAN STEVENS.
This is a really good album!
One of my least favorite Roots album and it is still this high on the list. Lighthouse's chorus is infectious.
Clever concept album. Very tight
What will go down as one of the best and most important LP's of the 2010s.
The Roots are in fine form on this one. It has the same great groove that is the signature of the band, plus some truly excellent story-telling. For being their first concept album, they really killed it here. It's dark and beautiful.
I have to say, major kudos to The Roots for taking on the challenge of a rap concept album and doing incredibly well with it. Black Thought really amazes me with his rapping, it truly can be poetic. There’s even a short little instrumental suite at the end of the album that really finishes off the album nicely. It’s a really good album. Personally, I don’t think it was as good as their last album, “How I Got Over", but it certainly came close.
How I Got Over is an excellent hip hop album, the best of all time on my list. So this is not as great. Still lots of sounds to love here.
Solid, but not brilliant. The Roots churn out another strong hip-hop album with strong backing instrumentals and a groovy r&b flavour. Great storytelling as well. However, there are no memorable hooks or standout tracks. How I Got Over is much better.
