What's the preferable version of this album anyway? The 8 track one or one of those with longer tracklists? _________________ All time

It's probably my favourite shoegaze album. The songwriting is just immense. The vocals are somewhat weak, but it oddly fits. As for the tracklist, I always go for the CD edition with bonus tracks (Taste, Here and Now and Nowhere). Those three are as good as any of the first 8. _________________ Finally updated the overall chart

I prefer the reissue, which includes "Taste", "Here and Now", "Nowhere", "Unfamiliar", "Sennen", "Beneath", and "Today".
An excellent debut album. Nowhere is my favourite album of 1990, ahead of even Depeche Mode's Violator, and "Seagull" is my favourite shoegaze song of all time.

I can't tell. It seems so short with this vinyl tracklist which I wasn't even aware of at the time (we all bought the CD). Vapor Trail is a fine closer with its cello at the end. But the song Nowhere in the CD version is powerful too. Ah, perhaps I'd choose the 8-track after all, because the CD is decidedly too long.

Easily the longer tracklist. In makes the experience more worthwhile.

Sorry, disagree. The last 3 tracks on the CD were originally issued on the Fall EP so whilst of the same time (indeed “Dreams Burn Down” was the lead track off it) they should be viewed as separate. Plus “Vapour Trail” makes for a much better closer.
That aside, whilst I truly love at least half of Nowhere I still have no idea why it’s considered as part of some sort of Holy Trinity of Shoegaze alongside Loveless and Souvlaki. I’ve always found their first two EPs and Going Blank Again a stronger listen personally. _________________ 'Reggae' & t'ing

To me with the holy trinity talk, I would have chosen albums like Mezcal Head or Painful as a holy trinity for shoegaze. As well as Xuvetyn. That's an experience.
