Love the mix of "big" releases and the more obscure ones. Oftentimes people (not on BEA, in general) go full in on one or the other, but this is a healthy mix. Critics love to slam anything by older bands who "aren't in their prime" anymore, which I find ridiculous sometimes. So it's nice to see Pearl Jam, Pet Shop Boys, Cudi and The Magnetic Fields among all the newer and more obscure releases. 10/10 chart

Something I've no doubt been guilty about in my younger days to be honest, but I've really come full circle now I feel, Pet Shop Boys is one in particular that I wrote off for years and years before getting obsessed with 'Actually' out of the blue and I'm now finding things I really like about all their albums the more I listen, also had a massive Pearl Jam revival last year and Cudi is one of those artists constantly rotating in the background, I'm lucky enough to be able to listen to hundreds of new albums in a year and despite this being a real weird and mixed bag, they're definitely the bunch I've enjoyed and revisited the most!

Like LedZep said, there is a silly tendency to write off what artists do after they turn 35. Not sure why. Good to see a balanced chart like this one. I also have that tendency to be honest. I mean look at my 2021 chart, its mostly kids' and their debuts and weird shit. Not sure why even I have this tendency to go in thinking a 8th album by a musician will be lame...?

As for stuff I really love that I don't see here... it's long but amazing, check out the Live album by Ichiko Aoba last year "Gift"... its stunning and just as essential as her studio release last year in a different way. She is a goddess.
