Recent Taylor Swift folk is not at all engaging or interesting to me. t was a fascinating change of pace and style. And it's generally well produced with well written melodies and all that. This song, "august", included. But it never really struck me as revelatory or truly profound in any way. Perhaps that is due to my preconceptions and biases heading in.
That said, EDM, and that dance music sound is so thoroughly removed from even remotely being my thing personally, I have to vote for august. Wish I could vote for a song I really liked here. I could abstain but idk, I do have a preference.
Wow, both these songs are... thouroughly okay. Taylor's every post-lillith fair adult contemporary mid-radio hit of the late 90s versus Todd Edwards bringing us back to the time when house musicians let their drum machine practically hump the listener's leg. Edwards is still one of the better through-BEA discoveries I've come across (from Skinny? Somebody mad and british at least), but this isn't top tier of his. Might still give it the lever-pull but I'm not particularly enthused either way.
Don't like neither but the Swift song is less likable to me, because that Todd Edwards song reminded a liiittle bit of 2016-Craig David so I'll go with that. _________________ My Top 100 :

Couldn't have said it better myself. It sounds like Taylor Swift, an artist I've never cared about in mainstream pop context, tried doing the indie folk/pop hybrid, but forgot that it's not the style that's problematic, it's the songs quality. That may sound too harsh, august is not a terrible song by any means, but it's not very good either. And I usually like Todd Edwards stuff too, so it was an easy vote for Inspire Me, even though it isn't exactly top-notch garage. _________________ Finally updated the overall chart
