Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.6/100, a mean average of 71.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 71.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.8.

It's easy to dismiss Slaves as nothing more than middle class wanna-be punks wanting to kick up a fuss about problems that don't even really affect them. But that's the view of dismissive, ignorant folk who won't get the appeal of Take Control.
The band's second outing is more fleshed out, more diverse and more aggressive than previous works, and delivers one of the most appealing assesment of the state of Britain of recent times. It's far from nuanced in its message, taking the "state the bleeding obvious" route as opposed to something more subtle, but then again, this isn't supposed to be complicated music.
What Take Control is meant to be is a shout-along overdrive fest for the disparate youth of the UK, a middle finger to those who find Slaves' music to be a bit too loud and rough for their liking. And save for its few off tracks, it's a properly, properly good record.
Not everyone's going to like it, but then again, that's half the point of the damn album in the first place. Having listened to it on the day of released, seen it played live and continued to play it in the years since, it's safe to say it's solidified it's place as an essential record of 2016 and one of the best ventures into punk in years.
