Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. Robert Christgau famously hyped this album and this guy, and yes, it's well-crafted jangly-guitar love-me-girl-I'm-a-sensitive-guy pop music, but Christgau was tripping. "Just forget about the usual thing," Crenshaw sings, on an album of the usual thing. It's cool, I like side 2 enough to play it maybe once in a while, so I keep it around. Good debut album, shame about the unlistenable follow-up (Christgau gave that one an A+).

gentle feel-good pop songs without any meaning or sublimity. just a fleeting pleasure.
Never got the attention it deserved. Too bad because this is a really great album.
