One Ok Rock wanted to create a sound that would make them more popular in America. Did they succeed? Time will tell because I wouldn't be shocked if a couple of these songs take off. They're written with a pop sound in mind. The result is a boring album full of songs that I feel like I've heard before. The autotune is so unnecessary. I like the lead singer's voice, but the autotune just distracts from it so much. I liked "Bombs Away" a lot, but the rest of the songs are really hard to get through, which is a shame because I wanted to love this album and band. I think that with some refinement to their sound in order to give them more of a unique sound and identity, they would be better. Ambitions is boring because One Ok Rock followed such a strict radio-friendly formula and took zero risks in attempting to become popular outside of Japan.
