Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 79.6/100, a mean average of 79.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 11.9.

There is something majestic about this record. It's the first they had recorded at Long Pond (I think). It gave the National a fresh outlook and I thought this would be an exciting, more reflective direction for the band

Sempre fortes, incrível viagem.
This one is a special album, I love just getting lost in its soundscapes. Definitely in the top two albums by The National for me
Favorite tracks: Guilty Party, System, I'll Still Destroy You
This album wraps itself around you, and surrounds you with warm, but fearsome melancholy.
The National delivers again a special experience with a small change in their sound. However, I personally like Carin at the Liquor Store the most, but it's more similar to older work.
Album of the decade.
I've never been enamoured by The National, but this is a more nuanced record. Quieter and more introspective. Really not a bad album at all.
I think this its a excellent album. I really like the song writing and all the tracks sound great.
Best Track- Guilty Party
As one of the biggest National fans out there, I was incredibly disappointing upon release. The System Only Dreams in Total Darkness is one of their best songs and when that single was released, I was ecstatic. Then, as each single was released after that, I became less and less excited. The album took a while to grow on me. Turtleneck is actually one of my least favorite songs I've ever listened to. It does nothing for me. All in all, it took a while for me to like this album. It's nowhere near their best - but certainly a good listen.
