Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 1% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 80.5/100, a mean average of 79.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 80.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.5.

For a band that started out in 1989, fans who were there at the beginning may see this release as long overdue or even, perhaps, a disappointing comeback. For those of us who were into other sounds at the time, this eponymously named CD is just another refreshingly well conceived and recorded album whose lyrics & music throughout brings musical solace to times badly in need of it. This band deserves more recognition than it already gets.
Between 1995 and 2014 they went their separate ways. Let´s hope that this release turns out to auger well for what is yet to come.
The atmosphere created on this album is simply fantastic. The group do a brilliant job of sucking you into the record and I always find myself getting lost in the dreamy music they have created. They do this through the use of some intelligent instrumentation which sounds heavy and drowsy allowing us to be able to sit back and enjoy. On top of this they bulk up the album with some really impressive songs such as Slomo, Star Roving and Sugar For The Pill. The song that always blows me away however is No Longer Making Time as it perfectly encapsulates the style and tone the group are going for in my opinion. It also sounds so interesting and engaging to listen to and I love coming back to hear it over and over again. Overall, what a comeback record this album is with it being filled with quality and loads of songs that deserve very high praise as they are brilliant.

Ouro do Dream Pop! Grande volta da lendária banda!

I remember reading a review back then that said something like "let's see if you remember this album past this year (2017)". It is now 2021 and I still actively listen to this. One of my favorite records ever. It gets better each time.

Highlights:
Star Roving
Slomo
Everyone Knows
Don't Know Why
No Longer Making Time
Sugar For The Pill
In 1993, Dave Simpson from Melody Maker wrote about Slowdive's album "Souvlaki": "„This record is a soulless void. I would rather drown choking in a bath full of porridge than ever listen to it again."
They come a long way since then. Nowadays they make pop-dream-rock which seems to be more difficult and I'm glad they changed they direction from shoegaze to such beautiful songs they are making now.
Of course "No longer making time" is a timeless great piece of music. But also the rest of the album is very dreamy-creamy and sounds fantastic.
I am new into dream pop and into Slowdive and this album makes me want to keep on discovering this band and genre.
Standout track: No longer making time.
Nice to have such an album in 2017.

back and dreamier than ever
Dreamy Pop. Some nice melodies

I do love me a bit of Dream Pop and 22 years since their last release 1995's 'Pygmalion' , Slowdives 'Slowdive' is rather excellent from top to bottom. 2017 surprise of the year for sure
The 2 standout tracks for me were "Sugar for the Pill" and closer "Falling Ashes"
Ok this is a good album but to suggest its better than 'Loveless' is ridiculous , come on guys get a grip
