Yes believe all the hype. I can't even listen to the studio version anymore. He's past the grieving phase and into acceptance. The songs have blossom on the live stage with the extra ornamentation of the other musicians. The synths are a great addition. I think this might be the best Sufjan album given that C&L was just too minimalistic and depressing to put it over Illinois - this fixes all my qualms w/ the album version and it has all of the gutwrenching sorrow (4th of July) but Stevens seems to be more at peace which makes for a lot less painful of a listen.

It sounds like a version of Carrie and Lowell removed from the post death depression.. and it. Is. Spectacular.
The same gut wrenching sorrow, but with a much larger sound. I am SO impressed.

The Expectations were surpassed, believe the hype kids, Sufjan allows Carrie & Lowell to bloom in various possible ways, a tree that has dozens different types of flowers from roses to violets.
