I recall enjoying this album when it first came out in 2016 and quite rightly included it on my year end best list
Fast forward to 2020 and I find myself revisiting ‘Civil Dust’ and boy did I massively underrate this album previously, it’s much much better than I gave it credit for. From gorgeous ballads ( “Emerald Flame” , “Reckless” , “Rush Of Blood” , “ Unpicking A Puzzle”) to Powderfinger-esque flat out rockers (“Wasting Time” , “Change Of Pace” “Belly Of The Beast”) and one Countryfied track ( single “Sooner Or Later”) there’s a wonderful menagerie Fanning track at his hook best
Note ‘Civil Dust’ is album 1 in a larger project that includes its follow up 2017’s ‘Brutal Dawn’. The 2 albums apparently go hand in hand
