Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 2% of albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a mean average rating of 78.0/100. The trimmed mean (excluding outliers) is 79.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.4.

I liked this for the most part. Plenty of Kinks influence.

For me the best Jam album, Paul Weller's song writing really blossomed on this LP. Favourite tracks are A Bomb In Wardour Street and Down In The Tube Station At Midnight.

All mod cons, in my opinion, is the best Jam album. All the potential that Paul Weller and co. had shown up to now is finally fulfilled on this great record. Weller is now truly into his stride and his songwriting is now approaching classic status. The cover of the Kinks, David Watts, is a respectful nod to Weller's influences, but nothing that Paul writes here pales in comparison to Ray Davies' classic track. Songs such as, down in the tube station at midnight, and, to be someone, are excellent. Weller shows his sensitive side on, English rose, even though he felt slightly embarrassed about it at the time. All mod cons, is a British classic. Excellent.

Been listening to the Jam for awhile, and I feel this is their strongest album. It has some of my favourite tracks on it, and I love the whole conceptual feel of the album. It's just a very nice example of the mash-up between punk and mod.

Key tracks: English Rose, In The Crowd, David Watts, Down in the Tube Station at Midnight
Key lyric: 'The last thing that I saw as I lay there on the floor was "Jesus Saves" painted by an atheist nutter.'

I see the Jam more of a singles band but this is definitely their best album. It flows nicely and there isnt a weak song to be found. I dont find myself playing it much tho.
