While this album isn't fusion per se, it is a fantastic fusion of musical backgrounds. Cameron Graves, first known as the pianist with Kamasi Washington, should make a name for himself with this epic outing recorded amazingly enough in a single 80 minute session. Graves, who also has classical training, is reputed to be a fan of hip hop, progressive rock, and even death metal, brings out moods, attitudes, and rhythms from all those genres in his piano playing along with horn sextet (piano, bass, drums, trumpet, tenor, trombone). Somehow, the acoustic ensemble provides appropriate voice for Grabes' aggressive, relentless, and passionate music.
