I was rather late to the Calexico party first dipping my toe in the water with 2012's New Orleans love letter 'Algers' , then loving 2015's rather excellent Mexican themed 'Edge of the Sun'. 2018's 'The Thread That Keeps Us' is album number 16 for this prolific duo & its better than good with an eclectic mix of sounds , political commentary and even gritty beats on "Under the Wheels" , and highlighted by album standout track the early Pixies-esque "Eyes Wide Awake" (one of 2018's best songs)
Yes sir , Calexico deliver again an album full of surprises which completely satisfies
