It's great to see them back, and many of the riffs are absolute zonkers- the singing, however, at times sees shoe-horned in from another record entirely. Not a masterpiece by any means, but I'll take new Sleep any day of the week.
I think that Sleep are a seriously great band but not quite loving this as much as say Holy Mountain. needs more time I guess.
Marathon of heavy guitar riffage and solos. A grand return for a band that has inspired many.
Excessively heavy metal. Just grinds you down. If Black Sabbath were depressed, they would have played like this.
I don’t know how anyone can hate this album - Sleep blend metal and chill together so effortlessly. I guess that’s why it’s called stoner rock ... amongst other things.
