Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 79.7/100, a mean average of 78.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 80.2/100. The standard deviation for this album is 18.2.

Heeeeeeeavy. But also very ambitious. It may sound weird and not comparable but this and 69 Love Songs by Magnetic Fields are two of the most ambitious albums I've heard. One is a bunch of crazy love songs, the other is... well, yeah.

An absolutely incredible piece. This song is (sadly, as of now) the final album by the stoner metal pioneers Sleep, and really is quite impressive. Judging the fact this was recorded back in 1996, the fact that they recorded a song with such a length using the limited technology of the time is an unbelievable feat. The entire piece sounds like a caravan of stoned travelers heading to a city, which is perfect because that's what the entire song's lyrics are about. Overall, I can't think of anything wrong with this hour long ode to weed, and it really is an amazing piece.

I'm not sure if I enjoyed this, but I certainly couldn't stop listening. It really sucked me in and now I don't think I'll ever be the same.

It's repetitive, overly long, and is definitely one of the most atmospheric albums ever. A masterpiece of stoner metal.

This album is like a distant planet covered by a narcotic haze and surrounded by deformed moons.

When you think of the term "weed apocalypse", something as heavy, gloomy, demanding and transcendent as Dopesmoker probably doesn't occur to you as something that would be such an event's soundtrack. Ultimately, the best thing a work of art can do is surprise us.

Extremely heavy stuff. The whole sound has such a surreal effect. And, if nothing else, it has a really cool cover art!
