Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 23% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.7/100, a mean average of 75.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 6.7.

MTV Unplugged albums vary in quality quite a lot, depending on how they have been mixed and which songs are featured. Biffy Clyro's version from 2018 is pretty good, but some tracks have been ruined by too much outside noise (such as the otherwise perfectly suitable opener, The Captain, which opens with two minutes of applause and talking). Most songs are just stripped-down versions of the originals songs, minus the usual energy. Others are better than their original versions, such as 'Re-arrange' and 'Small Wishes' from the 2016 album 'Ellipsis'.
Credit has to be given for the pretty fulfilled sound the band gives to many of the songs, such as 'Biblical' and 'Different Kind of Love'. Then there is a surprising vulnerability on 'Mountains' from 'Only Revolutions', while massive hit single 'Bubbles' is somewhat lacking. The best moments have perfect live magic to them, and luckily there is plenty of that. None of the versions here feel like they should replace the original song, though.
