This is not Rodeo. Once you get past that fact (which only took me 9 months), it becomes much easier to appreciate this album for what it is. This might not be the best album of 2018 or Travis' best effort but it's still a good album that will hopefully lead people to give a chance to his other projects.
Fine summer album. I liked the experimentation in certain tracks, not staying by boring trap sound.
Some great trap songs with amazing production but theres no real meaning to them other them just being some fun songs to listen to.
Some really great sounds on here and great features. I feel like if Travis ever moved away from the typical braggadocious lyrics he could make something really special.
Best rap album of the year thus far
Felt like a very formulaic Travis Scott even featuring the same artists as his previous record. All in all not a bad album. However, considering the entire year he spent hyping it up rather than writing the album, it fell short of my expectations. I enjoy the roller coaster theme being emulated through beat switch ups, but it just wasn't exciting enough to make up for what really is not Travis Scott's greatest lyrical performance. The production quality is insane on this record, but Travis only produced 3 out of the 17 tracks on the album. I was really hoping to see a lot more of him rapping on his own beats. This album just feels very focused on being accessible and hyped through production and features. This roller coaster might have made me throw up a bit, but it was one hell of a ride.
The progression we needed from travis, not as bloated and self indulgent as rodeo while retaining its experimentality, bangers, and its perfect utilization of features, moreover it harks back to the darker nature of days before rodeo while keeping the songs sleek like on birds in the trap, only song I dislike is sicko mode out of the principal that he wasted a god tier beat on only a minute of the song: so happy this has lived up to the hype adored coffee bean and hope after a long break Travis' next album can move into a more introspective direction, as it's in these moments where we're reminded travis isn't jus all about great production and collaborations, and is actually a good story teller
