I LOVE this souped up glammed version - the guitars by Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner (who later joined Alice Cooper) are just amazing.
This has been one of my principal anal expulsive orgy records for decades, but it is finally wearing out a bit for me.
The energy on this album is ferocious. An apt title.
Great arrangement of some Velvet Underground classics. Some Velvet fans may not like it but I think the arrangement serves the songs very well. There is lot of energy on this album. A great live album.

E' il rock dei Velvet portato nel decennio del glam e dell'hard, molto tecnico ma ancor di più viscerale, febbricitante, maledetto. Pochi brani che non hanno più molto delle versioni originali, tutti ottimi ma a rendere il disco inarrivabile sono il primo e l'ultimo, che insieme fanno metà minutaggio: la "Sweet Jane con la famosa "intro" e la conclusiva "Rock'n'roll". I due chitarristi Steve Hunter e Dick Wagner, qui funamboli, non raggiungeranno mai più certe altezze; e nemmeno lo farà Lou Reed…
As a big VU fan, it's hard to listen to Heroin and WHWL for the first time on this album. I love the glammed up versions of the Loaded songs, but it's hard to listen to the other two after already falling in love with the experimental nature of the original recordings. I'll give it a few more listens though.
The intro sweet jane that opens this album is intoxicating and among the best opening tracks in rock.

I can't, in good conscience, give this album more than an 85. It's sonically fucking amazing and should be taking up a place in my top 20. However, as mentioned by bigeyedfish, the atmosphere is not Lou Reed, it's not lousy street urchin squirming for a fix.
