Yes, compliations can be good and they can be bad. It still makes no sense whatsoever to have best of compilations in a best albums of the year list. It's not a real album. The music on it is not from 1998. And how do you even compare a life's work to someone else's single album?
This was my introduction to Nick Cave. I knew 'Red Right Hand' & the 'Roses' song with Kylie and liked them both. Hence I bought this to get to know some of his other work. Massively impressed. Great selection of songs throughout. I now have a good half dozen of his studio albums and love them all. Compilations are a good starting point when discovering new music. Highly recommend this one.
This is pretty damn good as far as compilations go. The track listing is superb. All the songs you'd want are pretty much here. Excellent, especially for casual fans(if indeed there are any).
