Top 100 Band Compilations
by mrmcrook
All albums on this list I own and have listened to multiple times. Hence why some crucial ones may be missing. Because I don't have and own it.
Compilations can be great for finding out whether or not a bands studio albums are worth investigating, based on what their (supposed) best songs are.
I've discovered many bands/artists that I had known a couple of tracks of but had no intention of following them further. Until realizing that many of their songs that weren't commercially pushed were way way better than those that were.
And compilations are also a worthy addition to have of bands that you know you have absolutely not a shit show that you'd ever be bothered trolling through their albums

Not really what I'd deem a compilation as unless you have the all the singles, B-sides and rarities. There's only two tracks on this that are on any studio albums. This was my introduction to the DK's and the discovery of what became one of my all time favorite bands.

A shit hot collection of the obvious hits but also a decent whack of the deeper cuts. Much better than any other 'Best of' you can get from The Doors

Problem with Pearl Jam is the vast majority of the studio albums have a few absolute crackers, but are mostly filler (apart from Ten & V's) Seldom would I ever say a compilation is the best album put out by a band, but with this, it is.

I knew a fair amount of FNM songs but this was the first of their CD's I got. Fantastic compilation. Full of all the gems and more. With them all collected together it makes you realize at just what a fucking great band Faith No More are.

This was one of the biggest surprises. Prior to this I only had album number 3, their self titled album which in my opinion is not that good. Hence why I got this as I thought it would be all I'd need as my faith in the studio albums had dissipated . Lo and behold; So many cracking songs. A mass of happy up tempo up beat tracks. My faith was restored.

This was how I discovered the Ramones. A fucking fantastic collection.

This is a supreme mix of songs from the (my opinion) best era of The Who.

The Beatles are one of the greatest bands ever. 28 tracks on this from the latter period. And ever one a gem. Which shows the caliber of them

I don't really classify this as a compilation as it's mainly demos, B-sides and other recordings not found on the studio albums. This is my favorite Nirvana album. It's not even grunge. It's rock n roll.
