There's an element of chillness and laid-backness to Pip Blom's debut album, continuing to showcase indie-pop-with-a-bit-of-grit sound that they've developed through their early singles. Boat is a classically safe debut album, but one that's also very competent; it doesn't want you to scream its praises because that's not the point. Indie underpinnings, with some post-punk elements thrown in for good measure as well as a few hints of low-fi too.
A record for lazy mornings and hanging around the house in yer pyjamas, as Blom's voice dances over the brightly distorted guitars and tight rhythms. It's very hard not to be captivated by the laid-back enjoyment Boat brings, and the ease at which it plays by with only makes that easier. It's an absolute gem of a record.
