"Robert DeNaro will never run neeked ageen in the streets of Bethlehem"

Intersection is the eighteenth and final studio album by Nanci Griffith, who retired from touring after this record and passed away on August 13th 2021 at the age of 68.

Sadly, Griffith was not in good health by the time this record was released. After breast and thyroid cancer in the late 90s, Griffith was diagnosed with Dupuytren’s contracture, a disease that causes the skin of the pal of the hand to thicken, making it difficult to play guitar. The record was made in her home studio with Pete and Maura Kennedy.

Griffith had some shaky records in her career, but none were bad, until Intersection was released. It is by far Griffith's worst record. The performances are lackluster, the vocals are uninspired, the covers fall short of being acceptable.

The high point is Waiting on a Dark Eyed Gal, an acceptable cover of a song previously performed by Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. The low point is High on a Mountain Top, where the lyrics sound auto-tuned beyond belief. Stranded in the High Ground is repetitive and Hell No I'm Not Alright, inspired by the Occupy Wall Street movement and social justice anthems of the past, is just an embarrassment and a terrible stain on Griffith's career.

This is the only Griffith album I would recommend only for dedicated fans.

Not recommended.

Track Pick: It's Just Another Morning Here
Gem: Waiting on a Dark Eyed Gal
