Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 5% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.2/100, a mean average of 75.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.7.

Kerosene! and Gospel for a New Century are absolute bangers, some songs are really cool, but otherwise there are some parts of the album that leave me with a feeling of incompleteness. It's a great record but I think he can do even better in the future
Highlights: All of Them.
Standout Track: Kerosene!
I don't even do drugs, but this album was the scariest shit I've listened to since that Daughters record.
Liking this album the more I listen to it. His voice is a bit of acquired taste for me, but even with that said it's clear that this one is pretty powerful.
Favorite Songs: Kerosene!, Identity Trade, Dream Palette
This is a great album to listen to. It takes you on journey of sound that transports you into space. I love the funk and rock sound that they have on here. There really isn’t a bad track on here. Although on some tracks i feel like to vocals are lacking.
8.7/10
Incredible album full of invention and creativity from front to back. It pulls influences from all over the map but the rock sensibilities of this record really appeal to me. The bass is down-right immaculate, especially that of Gina Ramirez if the liner notes are to be trusted. Not a dull moment to be found.
Kerosene! has got to be one of the best songs of the year. Gospel For A New Century is also pretty great. The rest is generally very tough to fully digest but there are still enjoyable moments here and there.
This is one to look out for. An unexpected turn back to rock in the '20s from an unexpected corner would be great, but Yves is making the same mistakes as his white, gender conforming colleagues: forced experimentalism by pushing together different genres until it sounds like something new, but will only fool the people who want it a bit too eagerly to be true. The protest is in the fun of rock music; it's provocating by having fun, and this just ain't fun enough yet.
The album is okay, nothing special, but some good pieces are in it. Most of the songs just are background tracks to me.
Favorites: Gospel for a new century, Kerosene
At times this album feels like Animal Collective, or is it Zappa, or is it Marvin, or is it TV On The Radio? No one will ever know. I just know I had a ton of fun listening to this record. Chaos met with sprinkles of just the right aural goodness to give you that high that you look for when listening. Highly recommend.
