I was fortunate to uncover this hard to find 1957 release by guitar prodigy Kenny Burrell in a 1992 re-issue on Prestige records (OJCCD-019-2, P-7088). Burrell shows off great technique and is supported by a top-notch ensemble made up of Tommy Flanagan on piano, Doug Watkins on bass, Elvin Jones on drums and on 4 of the selections Cecil Payne on Baritone saxophone. The interplay between Burrell is especially noteworthy on the opening track - "Don't Cry Baby".
