I spent ages flip flopping trying to decide if I actually liked this debut album from Sally Anne Morgan and ultimately it has landed on my year end list of top 50 albums of 2020 largely on the strength of gorgeous closer “Annachie Gordon”
This album clearly isn’t for everyone with lots of fiddles, banjo, acoustic guitar and piano for a sound that could easily be mistaken for Northern Ireland rather than Northern Carolina. There’s a sweet charm and innocent here as Sally sings of gardens, sheep and love all intertwined with instrumental interludes that fit perfectly
