Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 62.9/100, a mean average of 57.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 57.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 19.5.

4.5 out of 5 Unbelievably cynical & hard hitting rock album
The dirty nil's sound is one of authenticity. They are at their best when flipping everyone off and that is why this album rules.
There are very few low points on this record, and they are all resulting from mixing together the esthetics of trash metal and pop punk. Sometimes a little predictable and sometimes a little too berserk.... which also explains for why its so freaking good!
Fuck Art starts and ends fairly strong. There are probably a handful of tracks that really impressed me. Done With Drugs is a song is a song I keep coming back to. I think its among the bands best songs. There is a bit of a stretch in the middle where the albums gets a bit bland, but the final two tracks are favorites for me. The Dirty Nil continue to bring the fun and an interesting sense of humor to their songwriting.
Key tracks: Done With Drugs, Elvis '77, Doom Boy, To the Guy Who Stole My Bike, and One More and the Bill

Saw them live at some bar opening for the Flatliners in Montreal like 5-6 years ago. Now they've released this and it's already on this website 6 days later. ... not bad. The album itself is ok. Nothing special for me.

60-75/100
At its best this album is incredibly fun, especially as they winkingly introduce a thrash metal riff, then switch to power/pop punk a second later. This is a nice first listen of a new album for this new year. Nothing earth-shaking here, but the tunes are sometimes nice and the energy and the melodies are infectious at times.
"To the Guy Who Stole My Bike" is all about how his, the singer or songwriter or both, bike was stolen when, i presume, he was a kid. and how he has all this residual hatred toward that guy who stole it. its fun. also it reminded me how on October 7th, 1999, someone stole my Mongoose out of my backyard. I remember that day as it was my sister's birthday and that bike was my 10th birthday present and i loved that bike - was the first and still only bike I ever owned. and i took great pride in it. Me and that beautiful bike had 13 weeks together. summer to fall 1999 we had a little love affair. Then it was gone. I am strangely getting mildly emotional thinking about it. New year nostalgia blues. anyway, that song isn't that great tbh, but it was able to conjure up that emotion in me. so, well done, The Dirty Nil!
