Recorded shortly before Clifford Brown's untimely death in 1956, these recordings apparently posed difficult challenges for engineering and mastering, and so were tabled for nearly 3 decades. In the early 1980s, Brown's widow Emma LaRue and son Clifford Jr. worked with engineer Art Shifrin to modernize and restore these and other recordings. The result is not perfect, but it's pretty good nonetheless, and among Brown's best recordings.
