Non si capisce se Jonathan Wilson sia stato influenzato più dal folk psichedelico degli inizi degli anni settanta o da quella generazione ( i suoi coetanei ) di perdenti lo-fi degli anni novanta ( Elliott Smith, Will Oldham ecc… ), almeno per quanto riguarda l'approccio vocale, chè di lo-fi in "Gentle spirit" non c'è niente, anzi, il disco è curatissimo nei suoni. Belle canzoni ( alcune ), atmosfere malinconiche, solo che, secondo me, avrebbe giovato un po' più di concisione...
Better known as Father John Misty's producer. Jonathan Ross comes out of the famous Laurel Valley. Gentle Spirit represents his first solo outing. I think it's fantastic. Reminiscent of a early Pink Floyd / Elliot Smith hybrid. Great melodies and basslines, gorgeous stuff. Track Picks: The Way I Feel, Natural Rhapsody, Desert Raven
