Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 5% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.2/100, a mean average of 75.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.3.

Really solid, consistent album. 8+/10.

Absolutely brilliant. So much detail and complexity here, and the songs aren't in a hurry either. Definitely the work of somebody who knows exactly what he is doing and possesses an ear for total precision. The production is, of course, stunning (if you didn't know, Jonathan Wilson has produced just about all of Father John Misty's work and he also moonlights in Roger Waters' band) and the songs are beautifully sculpted and executed. Yes, it's a total nod to the early '70s (like all of his work, really), but he doesn't just ape the period. He's doing something rather excellent with all of his influences: building on them, adding his own character to them, and recontextualising that fruitful and legendary period of music for the 21st Century. It feels right at home in 2018.
Like stepping back into the 70s. Credit to the artist, as he is totally unashamed about it and is very much wearing his influences on his sleeve.
One of the best albums I´ve heard in recent years, Wilson brings complex sounds on this record, many influences perfectly merged.
