Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 79.4/100, a mean average of 78.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.4.

From listening his latest and first album, I was wondering how this minor artist was even found. But listening to this one, I get it. The only improvement is a slicker production however.
Smooth, jazzy and easy listening. This is the first album I've listened to by Destroyer and was blown away by its excellence. My girlfriend uses this record to calm her nerves during long flights, which is saying something.

That is absolutely beautiful!
Another great album BEA has pointed me toward.
This was actually quite good and interesting. It sounds jazzy and relaxing but is never boring. Unique stuff for sure.
I don't usually enjoy the jazz rock thing too much, it's a little cheesy but there's some things I can't deny:
This Destroyer at his most vulnerable, pivotal and in one of his best phases.
The melodies on this album are really outstanding.
Incredibly beautiful and brilliant album from a fantastic artist. Probably best of the decade. Extremely underrated.

Fist half, great. Second half, still pretty good.
