Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 6% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.6/100, a mean average of 75.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.9.

Very consistent album, there are no weak tracks. My highlights are Rope, Miss The Misery and Bridge Burning.
Some of the Foo's best material! The entire album isn't perfect, but the vintage sound carries on.
One of the best from the Foo's!
With the return of Pat Smear, the band is flourishing again. On this album the Foo Fighters make a good combination of the three guitars. Furthermore, the songwriting is very strong and the production is also very successful.
Really good album, Foo Fighters' best since The Colour and the Shape.
Up to this point, Dave Grohl & The Foos were treading water since 1999. This revitalised the band and the result is a wondrous achievement and a terrific listen from start to finish.
The Foo Fighters are one of those polarising bands , you either love em or not & I'm definitely in later , how ever The Fooies 7th album is notable for a few reasons:
(1) It was recorded 100% to Analogue tape with no computer in sight until post post production
(2) The album was recorded in Grohls garage over 11 weeks with 1 track completed per week
(3) The album was produced by legendary producer Butch Vig
(4) The album features many high profile guests including Bob Mould & Krist Novoselic
(5) The track "I Should Have Known" is an ode to Kurt Cobain and other's Grohl has lost & it was also the only track Krist Novoselic would play on
(6) This album sold by the shit load and was number 1 in 12 countries
(7) The opening bars of "Rope" is exactly the same opening bars to the 1992 King Missile track "Detachable Penis" , play both openings back to back & tell me they aren't identical

Good album. Best track, rope
