The Foo Fighters are one of those polarising bands , you either love em or not & I'm definitely in later , how ever The Fooies 7th album is notable for a few reasons:

(1) It was recorded 100% to Analogue tape with no computer in sight until post post production
(2) The album was recorded in Grohls garage over 11 weeks with 1 track completed per week
(3) The album was produced by legendary producer Butch Vig
(4) The album features many high profile guests including Bob Mould & Krist Novoselic
(5) The track "I Should Have Known" is an ode to Kurt Cobain and other's Grohl has lost & it was also the only track Krist Novoselic would play on
(6) This album sold by the shit load and was number 1 in 12 countries
(7) The opening bars of "Rope" is exactly the same opening bars to the 1992 King Missile track "Detachable Penis" , play both openings back to back & tell me they aren't identical

Such a great album-I like to compare this to QOTSA's Like Clockwork, full of emotion and not a stale song in the album- such a solid and great album.

I have never heard any Foo Fighter albums before this one, only the occasional single. I was amazed when I listened to this album that I already knew five tracks with the rest being brilliant. Wonderful melodic sound.

There is not a single bad song on this album. Grohl's lyric writing is at its finest here as well. He pieces together words so brilliantly I've never heard anyone with a similar style pull it off so well as he does on this album. The riffs are great. "Rope" and "Walk" stand out as phenomenal tracks, but every track has great moments. The album is amazing throughout.

Creepy thing happened to me with this album. I drove from Utah to go to my wife's Grandma's funeral. Her name was Rose Marie... and well the mix we had playing had this song come on 4 times in one day during that drive down... no other song did, and it was like a thousand song mix. I don't believe in any type of mystical things, but strange nonetheless.

Anyway, fantastic record from the Foo's. Definitely top 4 Foo album... my mood can't make up it's mind when it comes to them.

Bob Mould, Pat Smear, AND Krist Noveselic on the album?!?!?! Awesomeness.

What a surprise!

After a few okay to decent albums they completely rock on a 4 track player to make an excellent blue collar rocker.

More consistent than their other excellent outing Colour and Shape but with less highs.

There isn't a bad song with Walk and White Limo my personal favorites. White Limo has so much punch and energy.

Foo Fighters' magnum opus, and Dave Grohl's best work since 1993's In Utero.
