Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 8% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.1/100, a mean average of 74.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 11.7.

You can easily notice the transition between the bar scene punk/grunge rock of Telephono and the more restrained sounds and mature songwriting of Girls Can Tell on this album. It's an interesting milestone in Spoon's discography as it's both their own album but also very drenched in 90s hard rock/soft rock scene.
I felt that the 1:30 songs like Chloroform and Staring At The Board are unnecessary and almost took me out of the album, which is the main contributor to the 75 score. I can tell Spoon is finding its footing in terms of sound and production, but it isn't quite at the level of the rest of its catalogue.

Best songs: Utilitarian, Reservations, June's Foreign Spell

Don't believe anyone saying that you can skip this album!!! It is an awesome album, strong from beginning to end.

The guitar tones are really tasty, each and every song is great and the overall vibe of this album is simply awesome.

I cannot stress it enough: don't dismiss this album if you're a Spoon fan! You can easily hear the genius of Britt Daniels and Co, their level of talent is very evidently on display on "A Series Of Sneaks".

This album is still somewhat rough compared to the rest of Spoon's catalogue (excluding telephono), but that doesn't mean it's not a good album. Although there's only four songs that reach the 3:30 mark, all songs have a very good melody that is comparable to modern Spoon, and the songs all have a great vibe, catchy vibe that is very timeless to it. A definite listen for those who have digested the rest of Spoon's discography; this one will take a bit to grow on you though.

Vastly underrated. Perhaps simply forgotten?

Series of Sneaks is a cool album name. But that's about it. This and Telephono can be skipped unless you are a die hard Spoon fan.

They are starting to figure it out here but it's at Girl Can Tell that follows next where Spoon hits their swing
