There's a lot of competition in this quartet.
Many times they all try to lead. Some people think that's free jazz. It is not. That's called individualism.
Even though the recordings sound good, I guess the mixer or the person who directed him didnt fully understood what was going on. It's not uncommon that a basic track is louder than the soloists. That makes it hard to focus as a listener.
This could have been a great record since there's some really great writing and a high level of musicianship.
Unfortunately it lacks leadership or vision.
