Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 1% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 81.9/100, a mean average of 80.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 82.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.2.

There is some incredible atmospheric music on this album. Hoppipola, Glosoli and Saeglopur are amazing. But I found the rest of the album a bit bland.
Musically, this album is so beautiful and it just creates this real feeling of pureness and something completely innocent. This group is one of the only artists that conjure up that feeling on almost every one of their releases but it most evident on here and Agaetis Byrjun. The lush string and piano arrangements can move even the toughest person and make them feel things they haven't felt in years. It is astonishing the things that this group can do with instruments and a vocal and listening to this record really makes me want to listen to Agaetis Byrjun again as I always thought that record was slightly superior. However, I do think there are one or two skippable cuts on this record but other than that these songs are incredible. Overall, I am completely stunned by this album and I am looking forward to diving into more of this artists work.

Linda viagem, os momentos calmos são sublimes!
Favorite album by them after "Agaetis". "Glosoli" is one of the best songs these guys ever did, as well as "Hoppipolla". Check out the videos for them!
I have always been a big fan of Icelandic pop and alternative rock. Although the country is very small and sparsely populated, many artists have made their mark on the international scene, such as Björk or Sigur Rós. Sigur Rós is an Icelandic post-rock band that has released one of the best albums of all time: "Agaetis Byrjun". "Takk ..." (Thanks in Icelandic) is the 4th album of the group. It's an incredible album, the songs dream and Jónsi's voice is perfect. One of the best Sigur Rós albums.
9/10
Best track: "Glósóli"
Justifies it’s place in the top 250 (new entry)

I'm seventeen, and I've cried four times in the last five years that I can remember. Twice was over girlfriend stuff, once was when my dog died, and once was the first time I heard Glosoli.

Favoritas: Sæglópur, Hoppípolla

I feel that this album has even more magnificence within than Agaetis Byrjun, reaching the crescendos with greater impact. I rate Agaetis Byrjun slightly higher in my overall ranking though largely because it was just so revolutionary for me on its release. I can't think of a weak moment on this album. It is one of the most beautiful musical releases of all time.
