Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 78.0/100, a mean average of 76.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 78.2/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.2.

This is a vocal masterpiece and it really demonstrates the range and diversity of the artists voice. Each song is unique and you never really know what to expect and that starts right from the start. It is also a very emotional album and you can hear that through both the vocal and the piano. The piano on this album is phenomenal as well and really drives home the soft and tender moments on the record. Lyrically, it is amazing and well worth looking into if you haven't already. I really struggle to find critiques with this album as it astounds me with every listen. Overall, an album that stunned me on first listen and hasn't stopped doing so and is really worth a listen as this record is amazing.

One of the seminal trans texts. An astonishing work of songwriting and intimate performance whose emotion and hard-won sense of self is overwhelming and triumphant.

A slower pace than I tend toward, but there's beauty here.

I just finished listening to this and broke out crying at Bird Gurhl. A stunning album that is of course carried by her voice but which has the instrumental diversity to make it consistently interesting. The subjects of the songs are very emotional as well which helps tie the album together.
