(Good, lean, muscular little Powerviolence album. Nothing major differentiates it, but it’s a nice grindey/erratic hardcore punk on super serum type of album. Which is why excellent.)

So, this is an album that is labeled “Powerviolence”. I think that is a sufficiently silly name as to make not really want to use it. It’s a genre that essentially combines the feral insanity and speed of Grindcore with the barked vocals and aggressive angry attitudes of hardcore punk. The tempos fluctuate, sometimes slow and intense and sludgy and sometimes near-peak speed grindcore fast. Anyway, that genre description also defines this album pretty well.

As I listened, most of the time I thought it sounded like Hardcore Punk but just more heavy and wild and intense. I could envision my 15 year old self getting into this pretty quick - the DNA being similar enough to Minor Threat that I wouldn’t be put off by it like I probably would have been Pig Destroyer or other pure grindcore acts had I tried to listen to them back in the day.

I can’t say I’ve heard much extreme music or “Powerviolence” to pinpoint the qualities or cons of this act and this sound and this album. I certainly don’t think it has that almost impossible heavy aggressiveness that Nails has, but neither is it take or boring in any way. It was better than avg and I enjoyed the hell out of all 13 minutes (outside of that absolutely GARISH pretentiousness of the final 20 second drum beat... lol just kidding).

Basically, if you like this brutal, intense brand of grindey then sludgey then hardcore punky rock, you’ll get a kick out of this I think.
