Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.0/100, a mean average of 73.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.9.

(Sappy, sentimental, at times painfully dependent on nostalgia and a certain childish affectation, and yet... I like this a lot. There are some tracks here that make my whole being feel great. The best Emo-Pop-Punk album of the year.)
This album is overly long and trails off (to my ears) toward the back 20 minutes. And yes, the teenage dramatics, and the emo vocals, and the at times cringe-inducing romanticism, are all a bit much and a bit extravagent. Yet there are are also soooo many tracks and moments of blissful, euphoric, no-fucks-given joy and so many moments of earnest and affecting humanity and of course so much teenage nostalgia here that it thoroughly outways the negatives.
The first 6-8 tracks on here are pop-emo-punk-whatever heaven. So many lightning fast lead guitar explosion, so many bombastic and thrilling guitar riffs, so many smile-inducing bubblegum melodies, so many melodramatic and humorous lyrical moments. And each of these songs manages to pack all these essential elements into their 3-4 minute run times with incredible efficiency.
I really don't know how a person who was 30 in 2000 or 1 in 2000 will react to this. I was 11. This music reminds me of just about the happiest moment of my life. And the sheer amount of happiness I felt while hearing the first 40-50% of this (and to some degree the rest, it never is bad) is astounding.
