As a longtime fan of Jay Farrar, this is by far his weakest record to date. A disappointment, along with the 2019 record from Wilco, who share nothing in common except a little history.
Farrar is extra preachy here and his pleas for justice fall as flat as his vocal performance. Farrar channeled his politics well on the Okemah album and his most recent Union album, but the listener cannot connect to this project lyrically or even musically. Not even guest singers can prop up this project. A damn shame.
