Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.4/100, a mean average of 70.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 72.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 18.2.

Another Queen album that should be great but just isn't. I Want To Break Free is one of their best. Hammer to Fall and Radio Ga Ga are also great. The rest of the album is very unspectacular. Another album that makes me think that Queen are just a greatest hits band.

Tras su etapa, a mi parecer, más floja, Queen vuelven por todo lo alto con joyas como I Want To Break Free o Is This The World We Created?

I don't have a lot of Queen. I was given this record amid a collection of viynl that was handed to me. I really like this record, obviously there are the singles but there is other good stuff in here. Quite a mixture of rock and synth

If you want the best sounding version of this album, find a first UK pressing on vinyl. It's miles in front of any CD version or remaster since.

This was the first Queen album for me having bought into their singles at that time. It prompted me to get their back catalogue and I found some excellent work back there. They are a top band with songs that everyone sings probably without always knowing who they are. This album gave us Radio GaGa and it's synchronised clapping; Hammer To Fall and I Want To Break Free also feature with the album closing with the delicate and excellent Is This The World We Created?

Pra quem diz que o Queen não tem grandes álbuns na década de 80, não conhece ou não sabe apreciar essa obra!

Upped my rating. Been buying their back cat on cd as cheap and reacquainting myself with their albums. this is actually one of their most consistent records. However, these 2011 remasters don't sound great. This one is the worst sounding. shame, still sound better than Spotify but I'd love at some point for someone who knows what they're doing to get in the studio with their stuff and remix it and release them in an audiophile cd version. Money to be made if it happened.

I had only heard this album once some years ago, today I listened again and I really enjoyed it. Used to give 7/10 to this album, now I rate 8,5/10.

Favorite tracks: Radio Ga Ga (9/10), I Want To Break Free (9/10), Is This The World We Created...? (8,5/10)

Ok, "Radio Gaga" is wonderful, one of the best songs by them, and "I Want to Break Free" is an anthem, but the rest of It is just meh, "Hammer To Fall" is cool, but, these songs alone can't a hold a full album, the fact is that Queen isn't an album-centered band, they put out good songs, but that is that, allingn with the fact this site is called "bestALBUMSever" this one gets a 50.

Great album, should have been the immediate follow up to The Game. I prefer The Game and The Works to the over flamboyant 'We are the Champions' Queen. Recently bought new on red vinyl and the colour fits the album perfectly imo.
