Shame about the facts mentioned below because listening to this now it sounds like how I would have wanted the follow up to I Just Can't Stop it to sound. It has the kind of creativity and drive that I would have been well happy with in 81. Instead we got the soppy, under-produced Wha'ppen. That album was one of the biggest disappointments of my musical life. The trouble is that by the time of the Hand To Mouth album all the momentum of their earlier incarnation as The Beat and as a happening band with top 10 hits was lost which I guess is witnessed by the fact that this is the first time I have heard this mighty fine album. It's just a shame but not an unfamiliar story in the music biz.

The second album issued by the two-tone ground breaking General Public, "Hand To Mouth," came out in 1986 on IRS Records (Cat#: IRSC-5782). While the songs had the charm of their debut, including singles "Too Much Or Nothing" and "Come Again," the album did not make a big impact on the charts, and the group broke up shortly after its release.
