Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. The more I listen to this album the more I enjoy it. Some nice takes on classic songs. We’ll performed. Nothing outrageously different here but a nice album
I love the CJ's ~ I was particularly drawn to this album by the inclusion of Dylan's "I've Got My Mind Made Up To Give My Love To You" from his 2020 'Rough & Rowdy Ways' album. I've included the CJ's cover in my 'top 100 Dylan covers' chart.
Cowboy Junkies may be best known for their covers of other songs, most notably of Sweet Jane by Velvet Underground.
So a covers album by the group isn't unusual. It's actually a nice set of songs, including covers of Bowie, Neil Young, Gordon Lightfoot, Gram Parsons and The Cure. Nothing new or extraordinary here, just a nice covers set.

I like the Cowboy Junkies. I have since the late-80s. I've seen them 3 times live.
When I saw this would be a 'covers' album I was afraid it was going to be what it is...and what most other covers are: slow(er), somber, melancholy versions of the original. Not as good as the original, unimaginative and just plain dull.
