Girls Go Power Pop is an excellent compilation showcasing the 1980s and early 1990s, an era where women came in from the underground with jangling guitars, irresistible melodies and powerful vocals.
The Go-Gos and The Bangles were the most prominent all-female groups of the era, and they are here briefly, but I really appreciate the attempts to bring flash-in-the-pan artists that help a contemporary listener examine the era for historical and aesthetic purposes. So I would rather lesser-known artists be featured here instead of disappearing into history. Let their contributions be known and celebrated!
Highly recommended.
