Dirt Does Dylan is an album of Bob Dylan covers by Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (Long Beach CA, 1966). Nitty Gritty Dirt Band has been rooted in folk music and rockabilly since the beginning, and were one of the rare groups to firmly embrace the traditional sound and make a successful commercial career for themselves well into the 1990s.
Jeff Hanna takes the lead on many songs, with the harmony of Bob Carpenter, who also takes the lead on a few songs, most notably I Shall Be Released. Jimmie Fadden also contributes his solid drumming and harmonica playing. Several guests appear on The Times Are A'Changing, including Rosanne Cash, Steve Earle and Jason Isbell.
It's a solid set of covers, sure to win over anyone vaguely familiar with Bob Dylan's songs.
