“2000” is smooth with a particular focus on piano. The production always sounds crisp and the instruments don’t step on each other. Unfortunately, Joey’s flow never links up with it. The flow always comes off as strangely disconnected both emotionally and in relation to the music. Without synchronization between the bars and the beat, it can’t get the energy or focus that elevates great hip-hop. The flatness emotionally prevents the listener from really engaging with the story telling. A missed opportunity.
A stellar release from Joey that shows why he's still relevant.
Great album, less hit than the last two but each track were great.
