Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 70.0/100, a mean average of 69.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 69.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.2.

The first Gorillaz album I’ve purchased since Demon Days way back. I’ve enjoyed this album so much I’ve gone back and purchased EVERYTHING I’ve missed by Gorillaz. What a fantastic band!

A welcome return to form. My favourite album of theirs since Plastic Beach. New Gold is awesome, my second favourite Gorillaz track after Feel Good Inc. Also liked Cracker Island and Baby Queen. Not a fan of Tormenta or The Tired Influencer.

On par with The Now Now. Not mind-blowing, but really at ease with itself.

“Cracker Island” has a really nice relaxed vibe that moves through the album. The songs don’t demand your full attention but are very easy to listen to. The titular track works with its bouncing bassline and the oh-so natural Thundercat feature. “Oil” features a wonderful vocal link up between Albarn and Nicks. The second half does experience a drop in quality. The ease of listening remains but the songs lose any sense of intrigue. Never fully terrible, but extremely forgettable. Albarn’s vocals can feel a bit corporate at times. Overproduced in a way that comes off as frail. Ultimately, an aimless record with moments of positivity.

Been a long time since I gave gorillaz a listen so I picked up this on release on vinyl as I liked silent running I'd heard on the radio .it's short but enjoyable I've played it loads when I get in from work so been worth the money I'd give it a 8/10

A disappointment in the whole for a project of this standing, because Gorillaz tries to make the Synthpop album of the moment, without managing to be original and unpredictable which is however their main asset usually. It is thus a double bad choice of direction in my opinion. On the other hand, it's not a bad album, there are good songs that are easy to listen to, without shouting genius

Key song : Cracker Island

What to say... it's fun. Even the latino shitty song. Definitely way better than "Humanz" and "The Now Now".

Gosh gotta say the more I listen to it the more I really like it. I thought I liked Song Machine more but I feel like I've already listened to this more. So like half way through this I wanna keep going but after the Elton John song on Song Machine I'm kinda over it. Cracker Island is quite delightful and chill AF, it's just a really nice listen I dunno.

Big step down from Song Machine, unfortunately.
