Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.3/100, a mean average of 72.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.8.

Shortlisted for album of the year at the 2024 Grammys. the winner was Midnights by Taylor Swift

This is another album to just not look at the BEA ratings on because this is not the type of record the people on this site will understand.
“SOS” is a big mess. The center of the album is filled with forgettable tracks. The themes of rejection and longing are muddled between the songs. It doesn’t help that a lot of the instrumentals stay in an unambitious blend of trap percussion and acoustic loops. It’s a chore to find the differences or grasp any signs of individual uniqueness. During this run, SZA also delivers some pretty weak melodies. The chorus on “Nobody gets me” sounds beleaguered and not in the intended way. Despite these shortcomings, there are some real highs. SZA’s voice remains full and lends a lot of pathos when in the right places. “Kill Bill” is a great song that uses dark humor to effectively communicate the desperation she is going through. “Good Days” has an absolutely sublime instrumental with an entrancing pentatonic scale. Its theme of embracing the present and moving forward has tremendous weight after listening through all the pining and regret of the record. While hearing Ol Dirty on “Forgiveless” was a treat, “Good Days” should have been the closer. “SOS” needed less for its strengths to truly shine.
Come on, what on earth is the point of clogging up these comment sections with a copy paste of the album's tracklist? With or without your personal rating of each song, it just goes against the design of the website.

Ahhh how I’ve longed for the follow up after first hearing ‘Ctrl’ all those years ago and, for the most part, I believe ‘SOS’ to be a worthy successor, if perhaps not being quite as tight or slick an overall package

Grande nome contemporâneo.

NEVER IN DOUBT, BABYYYY!!!

A lot of hard work happens in the background to keep BEA running, and it's especially difficult to do this when we can't pay our hosting fees :(
