Excellent follow up to the epic "Different Class". The songwriting is just as sharp, although with a little less humor.

The follow up to the mega successful, different class. This is hardcore, is a darker twin to the more optimistic predecessor, but songwise it's just as good. The title track is amazing, one of Pulp's greatest songs. Other highlights include, the fear, a little soul, and, Sylvia. This is hardcore, is a fine album, dark with little specks of light shining through. Good stuff.

This album is as brilliant as it is manic depressive. Not like other Orphic Crooners who fall in love with their misery, within the lush and sprawling landscapes of this album there is an unsettling cry for help. It is a beautiful work with a Serge Gainsbourg influence, and is possibly the most uncompromising album I've ever heard. I'm thrilled that it has a following and getting the recognition it deserves

Your witty older brother has settled down with a family. His snide remarks generate a tense relationship with the family.

The brilliantly dark tone is set straight away..'This is the sound of someone losing the plot/Making out that they're ok when they're not.'

If Different Class is one of the happiest, better produced albums ever, Hardcore is the complete oposite. Dark, moody, lyrically sad, almost deppresive. It shows a band that has changed the dynamic and energy for a moment of reflextion. The result is almost cathartic. This is one of the greatest albums ever to be conceived and a logic choice to be king of the underrated. Songs like A Little Soul or the supreme Sylvia are simply exquisite...

Pulp's most moody, and with the coolest groove. But not quite on par with the consistent excellence of Different Class.
