Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist is rated in the top 5% of all artists on BestEverAlbums.com. This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 78.7/100, a mean average of 78.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.1/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 14.5.

Turning suburban, unashamedly middle class boredom into sleazy, downtrodden, catch-all Britpop genius. Fronted by a man who looks like yer dad, while the rest of the band look like they just finished at the office.
And the music? Holy f*cking sh*t is the music good. No band has ever come close to soundtracking the plight of everydayism quite like Pulp.

Some things that Jarvis Cocker sings about:
-Having sex
-Having sex with you
-Having sex with your girlfriend
-Having sex with your wife
-Having sex with your sister
-Having sex with your mother
-Having sex with your father
-Asking for pity sex
-Asking for sex from his ex
-Asking for sex from a married woman
-Asking to record a sex film
-Wanting sex from his childhood crush
-Wanting sex from a rich woman
4 terrific albums - i include we love life as well as the obvious his n hers, different class and hardcore triumvirate. Classy songwriting, interesting lyrically and a true pop icon in Jarvis Cocker. His solos stuff is good as well.

A band that had 10 years to hone their craft before Brit-pop blew up and they were thrust into the spotlight, just as they made their 3 best albums. His & Hers, Different Class and This is Hardcore is all you need.

Will see them live Monday night... Can't wait!!!!
