Keith Hudson was eind '60 en begin jaren '70 vooral gekend als een reggaeproducer die zijn sporen had verdiend door te debuteren met een album van Ken Boothe. De ritmes die hij gebruikte waren nogal ruw en dat werd zijn handelsmerk. Veel van zijn ritmes dienden als uitgangsbasis voor het toastingwerk van onder anderen Dennis Alcapone en U-Roy. Maar hij kon zelf ook zingen en maakte in 1974 het eerste conceptalbum in de reggae. Alle songs hebben als onderwerp de 'consciousness' en 'Black History'. De opener is een stevige, ruwe instrumental met de typische folkloredrums van Count Ossie. Ook de afsluiter is een instrumental. Daartussenin zingt hij nogal ingetogen over de geschiedenis van de zwarte slaven, afgewisseld met dubversies van die nummers. In 1974 was dit album zeer origineel, maar zelfs nu klinkt het ver weg van de platgetreden reggaepaden en is het een frisse afwisseling voor de liefhebbers van rustige, gedetailleerd uitgewerkte reggae met een boodschap.
